The HSFA’s core purpose is twofold:

To promote friendship and fellowship between survivors of the Holocaust and their families.
To this end, the Association runs an annual programme consisting of regular talks and social events.

To promote learning about the Holocaust, using evidence provided by the personal testimonies and experiences of its members, with the aim of encouraging respect for contemporary social, religious and ethnic diversity and ensuring that the events of that era are not forgotten. The Association has a dedicated team of survivors who speak to schools, universities, prisons, police forces and community organisations to encourage greater understanding of the continuing relevance of the Holocaust today. Association members also contribute to commemorative events such as Holocaust Memorial Day and work closely with organisations such as Beth Shalom Education Centre, the Holocaust Education Trust and the Anne Frank Trust.

“The Holocaust is an issue that must be learned about, studied and reflected on by all our young people”.
Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, House of Commons, 4 February 2008.
