Chanukah Fun For All The Family

Over 150 people turned up in force to enjoy an afternoon of family fun at The Young Welfare Board Chanukah Party on Sunday.

Generations of families filled the Community Centre to enjoy an action-packed afternoon of dancing, face-painting, biscuit decorating, Chanukah themed arts & crafts and games such as dreidel bobbing and a dreidel spinning competition.

The Brodetsky School choir made a guest appearance and filled the room with traditional Chanukah Songs.

Eight candle-lighters formed a 'human menorah' and each each lit a Chanukah candle as part of the Chanukah ceremony. Candle Lighters were:

Isabella Baum, Zachary Baum, Sophie Lyons, Emilie Manning, Oliver Newman, Tali Olson, Benjy Rivlin and Jack Wisnia.

The event was kindly sponsored by James Daly Opticans.

Over £1100 has been raised with proceeds going towards the refurbishment of Lily Thompson House, one of the Rainbow Project’s residential homes.

The Rainbow Project supports Jewish adults with learning disabilities to live their lives with dignity and participate in the local Jewish and wider Community. This is achieved in many different ways, both through supporting people in a residential setting and living more independently in the Community.
