Fundraising Fun at 100

Leeds Jewish Welfare Board was thrilled to receive a fantastic total of £2279 on the occasion of Jack Vardy’s 100th birthday.

Reflecting on his recent celebrations which included not one, but two parties as well as a card from the Queen. Jack said  “I didn’t need anything, so I thought would be a good idea to give money to charity instead and so asked guests to donate to LJWB”. Jack often attends the MAZCC to eat at The Vine Restaurant or to attend courses, and wanted others to be able to benefit from his celebrations.

Jack moved to Leeds 30 years ago with his late wife Jean after retiring from his job as senior scientific officer at the Patent Office He moved to be nearer his family and make the most of his retirement.  Still very active, Jack often visits his grandchildren and great grandchildren in London and Israel and attends Shul services. He likes to keep busy tending his garden and recently took part in a Melton course.

‘We are grateful for this wonderful gesture and hope others will choose to support LJWB in this way when they their own have celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries, Bar/Bat mitzvahs or weddings, said Fundraising Manager Meirav Sasson.
