Initial Reaction to Budget Cuts

Whilst the budget cuts appear to be not as bad as we initially thought, it’s too early to tell how this will be translated by Leeds City Council at a local level and what the impact might be for Leeds Jewish Welfare Board.  There is a danger that the increase in funding to social care might be swallowed up to meet the needs arising from the impact of other cuts in services elsewhere causing a ripple effect. 

We are working very closely with the Local Authority and early indications from our recent service review show that they rate our services as excellent. However, whilst they have committed to maintain our funding, they are not able to guarantee the current level.  We will have a clearer picture over the next few weeks as the details are revealed.
