A Leeds Family

A family where there were many prevailing issues including social isolation, lack of parenting skills and mental health issues, worked intensively with the MCFP team. Following the couple having a baby mum found it increasingly hard to cope, she could not bond with her son and came in to the MAZCC on a number of occasions in a distressed state.

At one stage the couple talked about putting their son up for adoption. Over the following 6 months the couple had intensive family support including weekly visits from the MCFP social worker and family support worker and Mum started attending our Me and My Adult groups. Over time Mum became more confident with her ability to parent her son and has now bonded and talks about how he is the best thing that ever happened to her.
