LJWB is proud of its strong, hard working team of volunteers. For many years now volunteers have been fulfilling a variety of tasks, mainly serving meals and working with older people. The list of tasks is rapidly growing and we now have many more opportunities for volunteers to work in a variety of settings with different client groups.
Volunteering offers stimulation, challenge and friendship for as much or as little time as an individual can spare.
As a volunteer you have the chance to:
- Learn new skills
- Gain experience
- Use and improve skills
- Develop new interests
- Meet, help and support people
- Feel good about yourself while doing something worthwhile.
We as an organisation offer training to enable volunteers to undertake their roles to the very highest professional standard ensuring “good practice”.
If you are interested in working with:
- Children and families
- The elderly both in the MAZCC and taking them shopping or to appointments.
- Those with learning disabilities in the Rainbow project.
- Leeds Jewish Blind Society
- Leeds Jewish Housing Sheltered Housing Activities
- thewellfairshop Charity Shop
- Listen, recording for the blind.
- Volunteer Tutors
- Musical Entertaining
- Mini bus driving
- Trips and outings
- Befrienders, visiting people who are socially isolated, in their own homes.
